Therapy is individually tailored and uses evidence-based, proven approaches to treatment recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).
I also work with professionals from a range of disciplines (e.g. teachers, social workers, carers, solicitors), providing assessments (e.g. medico-legal work), training and supervision.

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society, and Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical) registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
I trained as a Clinical Psychologist at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London, completing my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology in 2010. Prior to this, I studied Psychology at University College London, gaining a first class Bachelors of Science degree.
I work as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the National Health Service (NHS), and practice independently across London and South East England. Within the NHS I have been fortunate to work in a variety of Community and National Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), providing specialist psychological assessment and intervention to children, young people and their family who are experiencing a range of difficulties and at risk of not achieving their full potential. Services within which I have worked include a specialist Community CAMHS team delivering Multi-Systemic Therapy (for young people at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system) and a National and Specialist CAMHS Adolescent At-risk & Forensic Service (for children and young people at risk of harm and/or who present a risk of harm to others). I also led on the delivery of a psychological service for children and young people attending the Havens (London’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre) following sexual assault.
I have experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma (including sexual abuse and exploitation), and/or who may present a level of risk of harm to themselves and/or others, and who may be at risk of harm from others. I have experience working with families at risk of breakdown, and with children and young people on the edge of care and/or custody. I additionally have experience of working with children and young people who are experiencing difficulties in managing their emotions and/or behaviour, including low mood, low self-esteem, anxiety, interpersonal concerns, and behavioural problems.
I am trained in a range of evidence-based assessment and treatment models, including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT); Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST); and AIM3 assessment and intervention for harmful sexual behaviour. I adopt an integrative approach to my work with children, young people and their families.
I have worked as an expert witness, completing medico-legal court assessments on a range of concerns for family and criminal court.
Alongside my clinical work, I have experience providing consultation, supervision and training, to psychologists and professionals from a range of disciplines (including educational and residential placements).
I offer specialist psychological assessment of children, young people and families experiencing a range of difficulties. Assessments can comment on diagnoses and provide recommendations for therapy and support. Neuropsychological and medico-legal assessments for family and criminal court are also provided.
Assessments may include:
I offer specialist short and long-term psychological therapy for children, young people and families. All therapy offered is evidence-based, and consistent with guidelines provided by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence. Therapies available include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Parent Management and Social Skills Training, and approaches informed by Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness. Support for parents and carers of children and young people accessing the service is also available.
I offer individual and group supervision and consultation for professionals working with children, young people and families. Group teaching and training packages covering a range of topics relevant to working with children and young people experiencing emotional, interpersonal and behavioural difficulties are also available. Bespoke packages can be developed. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.

During an assessment, I will meet with you and your child to talk through the current concerns and life more generally (to help understand the concerns in context). You and your child may also be asked to complete some questionnaires to help in the initial formulation of difficulties.
The assessment can take one appointment, or we may need to meet two or mores times (for example if we need to complete additional diagnostic assessments).
I ask that at least one parent / carer or both where possible, are present during the first session. Part of the assessment may involve seeing the child or young person on their own.
During therapy, I usually offer weekly sessions of approximately 50 minutes. These sessions could be individual (e.g. parent or child on their own), joint (e.g. parent and child together) or family sessions. If we think more support or sessions are needed, I will think together with you about how best to offer this.

Together with you and your child we will agree the goals for therapy sessions, and how we will work together to achieve these goals. What therapy includes will be tailored to your child’s individual needs, and informed by evidence-based best practice. Usually therapy sessions include talking about thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in relation to recent or past events. Therapy sessions can also include skills coaching, for example how to manage strong feelings or relationship difficulties.
The Clinical Psychologist title is protected in the UK. It refers to someone who has completed an undergraduate degree in psychology and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, as well as NHS clinical work experience. It takes a minimum of 7 years and an average of 9 years to become a Clinical Psychologist.
All Clinical Psychologists are registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). HPCP distinguishes between 7 different practitioner psychologists: Clinical, Counselling, Educational, Forensic, Health, Occupational and Sport and Exercise. HCPC can be thought of as an equivalent organisation to GMC (General Medical Council) for psychologists.
The Division of Clinical Psychology of the British Psychological Society (BPS) is the professional body for Clinical Psychologists. Being a BPS Chartered Member requires high standards of practice, ethics and professional development.
No, you do not need to be referred by your GP, unless you are planning to fund your therapy through your health insurance policy. However, I would suggest that you keep your GP informed to ensure continuity of care.
For some children and young people the support of a multi-disciplinary service (such as their local NHS child and adolescent mental health service) is more appropriate, for example if they are experiencing significant difficulties with self-harm or suicide, and/or require psychiatric input. Where this is found to be the case at assessment or during treatment, I will aim to support you to access this.
In most cases, yes. Confidentiality is an important part of building trust with your psychologist. However, there are some exceptions to this, which allow the psychologist to work responsibly.
